General Class Information
Our P.E day is a Wednesday afternoon - children will need to arrive to school in our school P.E skit please.
Outdoor Learning is on a Friday Morning - children will need to arrive in warm, suitable clothing with a waterproof coat and change of footwear/wellies.
Daily/weekly information will be shared via the Seesaw platform. If you require a new log in QR code, please just ask the class teachers.

Year 2 have started looking at pointilism and the artist Yayoi Kusama. We enjoyed dotting our colour wheels and learning more about our artist today!

Year 2 worked really hard and made some tasty Challah bread. They followed the instructions so well and measured all of their ingredients carefully :)

Year 2 have been building new dens for story book characters. They were even big enough to for the children to fit inside!

World Book Day! We all had lots of fun dressing up as our favourite story characters!

We are really enjoying our 999 topic we had another special visitor today!! We looked at the equipment kept on board an ambulance and how it all works. Year 2 would like to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who has come and taught us new things this half term.

Inspired by North Wales Fire visit yesterday, we decided to create our own fire fighter training today! We crawled, pulled, flipped and ran we even tried navigating with a blind fold on!

A visit from the Fire Service! Wow!! What an amazing morning! We asked lots of questions, learnt about the kit kept on the engine, tried on the heavy helmets and even got to have a go at using the hose! Thank you so much Deeside Fire Service.

We've been learning all about money so we took full advantage of the snow and created a slushy shop!

Christmas Maths. Year 2 have measured out reindeer food, worked out the height of Santa's elves and weighed gifts for Santa's workshop.

To finish off our work on castles, Year 2 worked together to design and build their own using Minecraft Education. They blow me away with their creativity when building!

We had a busy classroom today. Year 2 made 3D shape models and talked about the properties of shape. They completed a 2D shape challenge - can you make a hexagon using other 2D shapes? and we used our construction area to build Hansel and Gretel a new cottage.

We have been enjoying some icy Maths this week. We had been doing lots of practise counting in 2s, counting on from odd numbers and ordering.

We had such a good time at Chester Zoo! We saw so many animals, had a lovely picnic and pretended to be stuck on a sinking ship!

A rainy outdoors lesson! We practised our adjectives knowledge with a scavenger hunt, splashed in puddles and created some brilliant natural repeated patterns!

Today I asked Year 2 to show me number bonds to 10/20. They could use any area or resources. A group of them decided to use our construction resources to show their sums! What brilliant independence and creativity!

We had lots of addition practise happening this morning. Year 2 enjoyed using different resources to help them.

Today we explored more about castles and decided what we want to learn about. Our creative juices were flowing so we got the Lego out straight away and started building!
26.09.2023 - A visit to Flint Castle.
This was a great way to kick start our topic 'Once upon a time' and begin our work on castles. We explored the ruins, sketched what we could see and identified features we recognised.

We created a bar graph to show birthdays in Year 2 and then enjoyed exploring all of our new areas!

Our trip to Bailey Hill in Mold. We had such a fun day! We designed our own coat of arms, built Motte and Bailey castles, told stories, wrote poems and had pop corn around the campfire!

As part of our Water topic, Year 2 wanted to learn about the Titanic. We went on a trip to the Liverpool Maritime Museum and learnt all about a family who survived the crash.
