Dear Families,
Fferm Ysgol Sychydn ~ Chicken Sitting
As you will be aware, with the ‘Food Production: Healthy North Wales’ grant we were awarded back in March this year, we were able to set up our own school farm, including our very own chickens!
Our children were very excited to name our school chickens, and the 5 randomly selected names from our children were Nina, Pecker, Vicky, Eleri and Jacob Mendy. The children really enjoy looking after our 5 feathered friends on a daily basis and checking every morning to see how many eggs have been laid.
Our holiday club will be running up until Friday 18th August and I know the children attending holiday club will enjoy continuing to look after the chickens (and taking some of the eggs home).
However, some other children have asked if they would be able to come into school over the summer holidays and help look after the chickens by ensuring they have enough food and fresh water. If you would like to help look after the chickens after the 18th August or during some weekends, please let us know which dates you could help out by emailing symail@hwbcymru.net or letting Mr Hamilton know.
Thanks in advance,
Nina, Pecker, Eleri, Vicky and Jacob Mendy

Our school chickens have arrived and the girls are settling in well!
We now need to name them...
All Ysgol Sychdyn children will have the opportunity to suggest a name for one of the chickens, which will be written on a raffle ticket. This Friday we will then draw 5 tickets at random so our newest members of Ysgol Sychdyn have names.
Dear Parents/Carers,
There will be a few changes with school meals next term. Firstly, there is a new 3-week menu that has been shared on the school website and also all of Year 1 and 2 pupils will now also qualify for free school meals.
Due to the higher volume of meals we will now likely be cooking and how some of the new food items will be arriving in school, we will not be able to be as flexible with what we can cook each day if any child does not like what is on the set menu. For example, the meatballs will now come to school in a tomato sauce, and where before we could prepare meatballs without a sauce for some children we can no longer do this. It is the same with the sausages on Monday of week 2 which will already be in a BBQ sauce, so there will be no option for just plain sausages.
We will continue to liaise with Newydd with their new menu and cater for allergies and special dietary requirements, but otherwise we will have to stick to what is on the menu for that day.
Please read through the menu carefully with your child(ren) to ensure there is something on the menu that they like when they are having school dinners as we will be unable to make alternatives and we do not want any child to go hungry.
